We love the Isle of Wight Festival, but sometimes you just need to get out of camp and explore what the local town has to offer. So. If you’re exploring Newport here are some of the best places to get a bite to eat off site, grab a coffee or pick up essentials all while supporting local businesses.
What’s better than a pint in a real pub, lucky for you Newport has several. Starting with The Bargeman’s Rest which is literally a 5 minute walk from Seaclose Park. A proper pub serving traditional pub food and a great selection of beers, including some local brews. As you make your way in town, pop into The Wheatsheaf in the town centre, where there’s plenty of outside seating in the town square or maybe The George Inn at the top of South Street, where they have a large beer garden at the back of the pub.
In need of a hit of caffeine for the morning after, wander up to Caffé Isola on St James Street for amazing, fresh Island roasted coffee and the doorstep sandwiches are a great hangover cure. Comicoffee is one of our more cool, quirky cafes. In the theme of all things superhero, grab a bubble waffle alongside your morning coffee.
On Friday in the market square is the weekly farmers market, pick up some freshly baked bread for those bacon sandwiches or maybe some local honey if your voice is a bit sore from all that singing.
