If you have the family in tow, you will be looking for a pub that will keep the little ones entertained. Pubs such as The Chequers Inn near Rookley and The Caulkheads in Sandown really do put kids at the heart of everything they do, with fantastic inside and outside activities and play areas.
For the foodies, The Taverners, in Godshill, is known for its use of local produce across the menu. There’s nothing quite as British as a Sunday roast, and if you’re looking for a sizable portion but still of the highest quality, you won’t go far wrong with a visit to The Hungry Bear in Brading.
Many pubs have live music from local artists over the weekend, including The Anchor Inn in the popular town of Cowes (and come Cowes Week, this really ramps up). If a pub with a sea view is what you are looking for, The Fisherman’s Cottage Inn is located right on the beach at the end of Shanklin esplanade (under Shanklin Chine).
