Island Transport

Southern Vectis

Southern Vectis is a local bus public transport service around the Isle of Wight. This includes services which have been designed specifically to help visitors enjoy the Isle of Wight’s many attractions, countryside and coastline.

Try the “Shanklin Steamer” or maybe the “Island Breezer” bus services, which are designed with visitors in mind by Southern Vectis.

Island Line Trains

Although the Isle of Wight’s train transport network is quite limited, it does offer a very convenient way of travelling between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin, calling at Brading, Sandown and Lake. The trains are old London underground tube trains, which still offer a reliable service.

The Island Line service even connects with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Smallbrook Junction.

Isle of Wight Steam Railway

Connected to the Island Line train service via Smallbrook Junction, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway runs a short 5-mile service from Havenstreet station to Ashey. The vintage trains are traditional steam engines that offer a special journey back in time and a wonderful family day out.
