Lake is a large village and civil parish nestled between Sandown and Shanklin. It's just six miles away from the Island's county town of Newport, and around 1 1⁄2 miles from the small hamlet of Apse Heath.
The village has two schools, several pubs, shops, restaurants, and two supermarkets. You can find the Sandown & Shanklin Golf Course and Rugby Club close by. The area also has two parks, with one bordering the cliffs that lead down to the beach, which stretches between Lake and Shanklin.
Southern Vectis bus routes 2, 3 and 8 serve Lake on their way between Newport and Ryde. Local routes 22 and 24 cover other areas.
Lake is served by Lake Railway Station on the Island Line Railway with direct connection to the Wightlink Ferry at Ryde Pier Head and stops at Ryde, Smallbrook, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin.
