The Needles Old Battery is a spectacular clifftop fort overlooking The Needles. The battery includes two original guns on the parade ground and offers dramatic views of the sea and The Needles Lighthouse.
Further up the headland stands The Needles New Battery. It features fascinating underground rooms which are home to the extraordinary exhibition about the secret rocket-testing programme that was carried out here during the 1950s and ‘60s, as part of Britain’s Race for Space during the height of the Cold War.
The tearoom tops it off with hot and cold drinks, ice creams, snacks and cakes. Walk, cycle or take the bus to the battery with car parking at The Needles Landmark Attraction.
