Spring is here, Easter is just around the corner, and with two May Bank Holidays approaching, it’s time to make the most of the season’s long-awaited breaks. What better way to do this than by immersing yourself in the Isle of Wight’s vibrant art scene?
Kicking off the highly anticipated Isle of Wight Open Studios 2025, a special Showcase Exhibition will run at Quay Arts West Gallery, Newport, from Thursday, 3 April, to Saturday, 31 May. This free exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience a diverse selection of artwork from 90 of the 150+ artists taking part in this year’s Open Studios event, highlighting the incredible range of talent across the Island.
The showcase will be launched on Wednesday evening, 2 April, with an official opening by special guest Graham Biss BEM DL, The High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, and attended by participating artists, invited guests along with visitors to the gallery. The exhibition will then be open to all during Quay Arts’ opening hours (9am – 5pm daily, including Sundays).
The Showcase Exhibition provides a preview of the extraordinary talent that will be on display during the main Isle of Wight Open Studios event, which runs from Friday, 16 May, to Monday, 26 May. This much-loved annual event invites visitors to step inside the working studios of artists, offering a rare chance to meet makers, watch live demonstrations, and purchase original handcrafted pieces directly from the creators. The event will feature a diverse array of artistic disciplines, including painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, woodturning, jewellery, printmaking, and digital art.
To help visitors plan their experience, an interactive website provides four Area Maps, making it easy to locate participating studios. The ‘Artists’ page offers individual profiles showcasing their work and studio locations. Additionally, the 2025 Island-Wide Artists Directory, available both online and in print, ensures no creative hub is left undiscovered.
