What’s better on a blustery autumn day or after a chilly winter walk than cosying up by the fire in one of the many great pubs the Island has to offer? Your experience of our wonderful inns does not have to stop at the bar. There are many characterful pubs with rooms on the Isle of Wight and open throughout the year. We thought we’d start you off with a few suggestions of where you might like to stay…
The Spyglass Inn, Ventnor
This multi-award-winning pub sits at the end of Ventnor Esplanade and has one of the most spectacular views, not only on the Island but quite possibly in the UK (now that’s an accolade).
All are welcome at this traditional inn, whether you’ve got the family in tow or your four-legged friend and muddy walking boots. Cosy up with a pint of local ale by the fire or take in the wintry sea landscape.
The Spyglass Inn has four self-contained apartments, sleeping either two or three adults. Tastefully furnished, each has its own character and views of Ventnor Bay. On arrival, you’ll receive a breakfast hamper which you can prepare in your kitchenette. Dogs are welcome in the Gun Deck apartment.

The Boathouse, Seaview
Situated in the pretty seaside village of Seaview, The Boathouse offers superb award-winning food and views over the Solent.
If you’ve taken a bracing stroll along the seafront, you can pop in for a drink and warm up beside the log burner.
Recently tipped as one of the top bed and breakfasts in the UK, there are four rooms each exquisitely decorated, echoing the sea landscape visible from each of the rooms. Book either a double, twin or family room – which sleeps four. On those less than favourable winter days make a coffee from the in-room facilities and enjoy the view or maybe cosy up and watch a film using the DVD player supplied.
The Wight Mouse Inn, Chale
Situated on the South Coast in Chale with unbeatable ocean views, The Wight Mouse Inn is truly an escape within an escape.

A beautifully restored Edwardian inn, set in the heart of the village of Bembridge, The Birdham offers top-quality dining and chic accommodation.
The Holmes family, behind the popular Chequers Inn and The White Lion, took over The Birdham in 2021. The regularly-changing menu showcases local produce and is much more than your standard pub grub. The scrumptious Sunday carvery is not to be missed.
