The first wave of excited and eager campers arrived at Barclaycard presents the Isle of Wight Festival yesterday (Thursday 15th June 2023), to kickstart a 4 day extravaganza of amazing music.
Following the release of their number 1 album ‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’ earlier this year, indie pop band Lottery Winners kicked off proceedings in the Big Top. Chart-topping Scottish production duo LF System got the party started into the evening, the crowd giving a raucous reception to their hit ‘Afraid to Feel’. Electronic music legends Groove Armada closed the night with a selection of their greatest hits, including ‘I See You Baby’ and ‘Superstylin’.
Thursday also saw the return of stages This Feeling, Electro Love, Hipshaker Lounge and Kashmir Cafe, prepping festival goers for the weekend ahead with an eclectic selection of music and entertainment. Seaclose Park staples Cirque De La Quirk and Electric Ladyland’s Hunky Dory also provided live music, quizzes and cabaret long into the evening.
Over the rest of the weekend, fans will enjoy up to 390 incredible acts across 13 stages and headline performances from Pulp, George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers and Robbie Williams, as well as Courteeners, Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Anne-Marie, Niall Horan, James Bay and more.
This year’s festival has sold out and, across 4 days, the site will be home to over 55,000 people for a weekend that promises to once again deliver unforgettable moments and memories that will last a lifetime.
