With more and more people turning to electric cars (nearly 500,000 on the UK roads) the need for more places to charge your car is becoming more apparent. If you’re holidaying here on the Island the last thing you need to worry about is running out of charge so we have pulled together a list* of electric charging points on the Island.
The below are a combination of Isle of Wight Council and privately owned charging stations. Council owned charges are always for general public use. Some restrictions may apply for others, check onsite signage about public usage, parking charges and charging costs before you plug in. Some points will just be for those staying on-site.
North
Isle of Wight Council owned/maintained
- Cowes – Seaview Road. There are two sockets here with an output of 22kW and there is free on-street parking available.
- Cowes – Cross Street. Standard charging point with an output of 7kW. Off-street location.
- East Cowes – Adelaide Grove. There are two sockets here with an output of 22kW and there is free on-street parking available.

- Havenstreet – Isle of Wight Steam Railway. There is one socket available charging at a slower speed.
- Upton – Little Upton Farm Holiday Cottages. There are two sockets here with rapid charging. Check on-site for general public use restrictions and charging charges.
- Ryde – Wightlink FastCat, Ryde Pier Head. There are two sockets here with standard charging. Check on-site signage about parking/charging charges.
- Ryde – Tesco. There are four sockets here with standard charging. Check on-site for general public use restrictions and charging charges.

South

- Ventnor – Trinity Road. There are two sockets here with an output of 7kW and there is free on-street parking available.

- Freshwater – Moa Place. Standard charging point with an output of 7kW. Off-street location.
