#1 Enjoying some pub grub
It’s hard to beat an afternoon in the pub and the Island has some absolute corkers. After working up a thirst on a country walk, enjoy a refreshing pint or glass of wine and tuck into some fabulous local food.

#2 Catching festival fever
2021 is the summer of music! There really is something for everyone – retro music lovers will enjoy Jack Up the Summer, the Wight Proms will keep classical fans happy or you can catch the best of British bands at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival. There’s even a jazz weekend!

#3 Seeing a show
With last year’s events now rescheduled, Shanklin Theatre has plenty of big names visiting them this Summer, from comedian Sarah Millican to Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi and ‘Boycie’ from Only Fools and Horses star John Challis.
#4 Spotting a rare orchid
Towards the end of August, rare Autumn Ladies-Tresses orchids come into flower. Their delicate white, bell-like flowers appear on grassland and verges and particularly on chalk downland.
#5 Getting on your bike
Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or a beginner, with around 00 miles of cycle tracks, byways and bridleways, there’s no better way to explore the Island than on a bike. Not sure where to start?
#6 Tasting the fruits of the sea
Surrounded by sea, the Island has a plethora of sustainable locally-caught seafood to hand (well, line or net). Whether it’s fish and chips eaten out of the paper at the seaside, or a full ‘fruit de mer’ we think it’s hard to beat! Why not cast your line and have a go at catching your own supper?

#7 Steaming through the Island’s countryside
The Island Steam Show returns for another year at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. The majestic steam trains will be running along the line, plus there’s vintage transport, a traditional fairground and live entertainment to enjoy.
#8 Walking the wight
Lace up your walking boots and discover the Isle of Wight on foot. Walk the Wight takes place on 12 September this year and you can choose to complete the 26.5 mile Main Walk, or Walk the Wight Your Way and spread your steps over a longer period of time.
#9 Exploring the great indoors
It’s not always summer sunshine, sometimes there are showers too but thankfully there are a myriad of attractions where you can escape the rain. Head to Shanklin Seafront, where you can play indoor crazy golf whatever the weather or amuse yourself in the arcade!

#10 Hitting the beach
Whether you’re dipping a tentative toe in the sea with a little paddle or a seasoned adrenaline-fuelled watersports junkie, now is the time to hit the beach. Build a sandcastle, swim in the sea and soak up the sun. You’ll head home with salty hair and a smile on your face!
