Home » Niton
This quaint village near Ventnor on the Isle of Wight is home to several churches, a pottery workshop, local shops and a couple of amazing local pubs.
Niton is famous for its smuggling history. You can still wander through the tunnels that were once used by pirates shifting booty across the Island. The lower part of the village, below the cliff, is known as the ‘Undercliff’. This was a small fishing hamlet in the 19th Century.
Niton includes the most southerly point of the Isle of Wight, St Catherine’s Point and St Catherine’s Lighthouse. Which is the perfect vantage point for watching the famous Round the Island Race.
Southern Vectis bus route 6 serves Niton on its way between Newport and Ventnor.
