Nestled on the south-west coast of the Isle of Wight, the villages of Brook and Hulverstone are part of the scenic Brighstone parish, offering visitors a peaceful escape with a mix of natural beauty and heritage. While the village has no public toilets or shops, Chessell Café is located on the outskirts of Brook and makes a delightful stop during a day on the West Wight.
Just a short distance inland, Hulverstone is technically a hamlet, home to only a few houses, but it packs a lot of character. The village is best known for its historic 400-year-old pub, The Sun Inn, a traditional country pub popular with both locals and visitors. It’s a welcoming spot to enjoy a meal, a drink, and the relaxed West Wight atmosphere.
Both villages lie within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the nearby coastline designated as a heritage coast and site of special scientific interest. The cliffs and shoreline around Brook are famous for dinosaur fossils, attracting families, fossil enthusiasts, and nature lovers from across the Island.
Southern Vectis bus route 12 serves Brook and Hulverstone on its way between Newport and Alum Bay via Freshwater and Totland.
