Once the Island’s best kept beach secret, tucked away between the Undercliff and Ventnor, is Steephill Cove.
A delightful little cove where you can still see traditional fishermen at work, as well as enjoy the fruits of their labour with a fresh crab sandwich from one of the beach cafés.
There’s just a handful of buildings right on the water’s edge, and the cove can only be accessed on foot, so there are no cars to contend with.
The easiest places to start your walk to Steephill Cove are from Ventnor Botanic Garden or La Falaise car parks. Be prepared for quite a few steps from either direction, but you will be rewarded with a tranquil and charming sight as you arrive.
